1White Spot Disease (Ich)
One of the most common and highly contagious goldfish diseases, caused by a parasite.
Symptoms
- White salt-like spots on fins and body
- Rubbing body against tank walls or gravel
- Rapid or labored gill movement
What to Watch
- Sudden outbreak spreading across the whole tank
- Loss of appetite
- Lethargy and clamped fins
Caused by the parasite Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, usually triggered by stress or sudden temperature drops.
Prevention Checklist
- Maintain a stable tank temperature
- Quarantine new fish for 14 days before adding them to the main tank
- Avoid sudden water changes or temperature swings
